Just what the Doctor ordered

Yesterday found us at two doctors appointments, the first for Thornley, then based on the results of Thornley's visit, the next for me. On Sunday we noticed Thornley had an odd rash around his nose and mouth. I called nurse Cori, and since Thornley had complained last week about a sore throat, Cori asked if his throat still hurt and said if so, it could be strep of some sort. Thornley's throat hurt for two days, one of those days I sent him to school - no fever, husband out of town, he's going to school! On Friday he woke up and said his throat didn't hurt anymore, and hasn't said a word about it since. Anyway, back to the rash...I decided that if it was the same or worse on Monday when he woke up, I'd take him in. He woke up said he felt great, but he still had his rash. I'm not one to send my kid to school with some unknown rash, so I started driving towards the Dr office around the time they opened and called while on the way to get an appointment (Cori's suggestion). because if it was nothing, then we were going to school. We get to the Dr, they do a strep test (almost made me gag, and I was just watching) and low and behold it came back positive. SUPER! So now he is on antibiotics and some antibiotic ointment for his impetigo.
Since I woke up with a sore throat on Monday, bad enough that I called in sick to work, I mentioned this to the pediatrician and he recommended that I go to my doctor (I'm assuming if you know me well enough to read my blog, you know I don't have a doctor - except the one who delivered Jack and well, he had he is no longer allowed to practice medicine), so I call UW clinic and make an appointment. Both boys in tow, we head to the doctor. I go thru my story, blah, blah, blah, gag when the do the throat swab and then go thru my story again for the doctor (really, why can't they read the notes the nurse types into the computer), who prescribes an antibiotic. If she calls me tomorrow, my tests were negative and I can stop taking the medicine. If I don't hear from her, I guess I have strep (love the personal touch!). THEN she tells me to drink lots of fluid (does wine count) and get lots of rest. Apparently she hasn't seen my laundry pile, and unless she thinks my kids really ARE wizards, after all the spells they were casting in the office, I'm not sure how that laundry is going to get done.
So ANOTHER trip to the pharmacy, and I come home to "rest".
Oh the rest and relaxation of it all!

So do you have strep???? I hope not! ICK! Do you go to UW factoria? That's where I go too. But I need to find a new place CLOSER to my house.

Why did Jack's delivery Dr. get canned??
